Disappointment a Day: 45

Tomorrow is the third Saturday of the month. That means that I’ll be orienteering if possible. Fun thing about tomorrow are the projected storms. We have HEAVY rains forecasted for our area tomorrow. Warmer than usual temps and heavy rain. I plan on getting there early tomorrow to hopefully beat the majority of the rain. Not that I want to avoid the rain, but I want to perform well. It is difficult to perform in the “slop.” I do want a little rain, but not a torrential down pour.  I also don’t want a cancel due to weather.

I’ve got a new compass I’m dying to use. It’s a Moscow Thumb Compass. Look for them on eBay if you want to save on shipping and get one a little cheaper.

I also have my new gaiters that Amberly got me for Christmas. I’ve used them, but not for orienteering.

I just want to go run in the woods and get a little wet. I don’t want it to rain out. Not that this is a disappointment, but just a hope that I’m not disappointed tomorrow.

If you are in town come on out. Look for this sign:

I’ll be running around in the woods looking for these:

Look at the Vulcan Orienteering Club web page. There are meets every 3rd Saturday from September to May. Come on out and run with me!

UPDATE: Just found out the start time has been moved up to 9am. Yep, gonna start even earlier.

December 2011 Orienteering

Yep, I’m a slacker. Not really, I’ve just been busy.

Thanks Holiday season!

It’s 2012, and I’ve got quite a few things on the horizon. Before we continue something from 2011!

On December 17th, I ran another orienteering race. I stepped up to the Orange level course. Orange courses are a little longer and the controls are a bit harder to find. I once again made it to 2nd place. I was beat by 19 seconds! So close! The biggest thing that beat me in this course was my fitness level. I’m working on it.

I know I said for the docket that I would get 1st before I stepped up to the new level, but I’ll make an exception again this time. I’m giving myself a pass on this because it was a fitness issue not a navigational issue. Sue me it’s my list. haha!

If you want to see the results to the meet they can be found here.

I won’t be at the January meet due to having my eyes done. Look for more orienteering from me at the Green level in February.
