Completed 5K!

I ran in the Race to the Highlands 5K this weekend. It was a beautiful Saturday morning. My friend Michael came out to push me along. He is an incredible runner. I hated that I held him back, but I’m glad he stuck with me throughout the race. If not for his encouragement, I would have not finished as well as I did. My finish time was somewhere around 33 minutes. I wanted to throw up by the time I got to the finish line so, I’m a bit fuzzy on what the time clock read. Hopefully the race director will post results, and I can share those with you my readers (all 2 of you).

The course was great. There were two wicked hill climbs. I’m not that great at judging distances, but one of them had to be over a quarter mile straight up. I really need to work on my hills. I also found that I need to find a better way to warm up my calves and ankles. I did a good job of prepping everything but those areas. It could be I just need to work on ankle strength.

Race to the Heights: Highlands 5K

It’s kind of a last minute thing, but I found the Race to the Heights: Highlands 5K. They have the option to race on trails or on the road. I prefer to run off road so the chance to have a 5K trail run pleased me to no end. I did miss the early sign up so my registration fee is a bit higher. The race benefits http://www.thea21campaign.org/ a charity that fights against human trafficking. I will be slow, but I will still finish! Wish me luck!
