I don’t really care who reads what I write unless you are going to jack an idea. Posts that are password protected usually have some idea or thought that I’m afraid that might get “borrowed” by someone else. I wouldn’t mind if someone took an idea and ran with it if they could/would do it better than I would. I would beg someone to do it better, but I doubt someone who could, would have stumbled across my blog. Go figure. It could just be me being paranoid. What disappoints me? Idea jackers that do crappy jobs.

I went to Lake Lurleen today with my mom to check out the course for the Tashka race we are doing in March. I’m pretty sure we are going to get our tails’ kicked. I know we did today. We cycled over 12 miles. My knee issue from this past weekend wasn’t that big a deal. I think it was mainly sore due to the exertion of the day and not the previous injury. Nothing to be disappointed about there other than me tearing my knee up. What killed me was the amount of horrible drivers in Tuscaloosa today. HOLY CRAP! I was almost hit 3 times! Here’s one of them:

This is one of them. I already had my camera out to catch the next yahoo.

Horrible drivers. Turn signals, right of way, and just general jack assery was all over that place.

Disappointment doesn’t even touch it.

That’s right! the first Disappointment/Pete a Day combo!!!

Why you ask?

I’m tired.

I kinda skimped on taking a photo today due to laziness.

I didn’t feel like digging the internet for this photo:

Yeah, I’m disappointed in whomever is to blame for this movie being on BluRay. I could talk about the story being lifted directly from Pocahontas, but that’s already been done. I could gripe about this movie coming from the same guy that brought us such excellent films as: Terminator, Terminator 2, Aliens, True Lies, The Abyss, and who could forget Piranha Part Two: The Spawning. I could complain about his apparent skill at crafting sequels that rival the original. This is the only reason I have hope for Avatar 2: The Avatarder. I won’t say what the title for the 3rd movie will be, but you better believe that the R in Avatar will be turned into a 3. Just saying.

What really disappoints me is the time it take for this stupid disc to load up. It had the audacity to ask for an SD card to load features. Then it takes 15 to 20 minutes to load the sucker up to get to the menu. Once I’m allowed to press play; I’m once again treated to another wait. FINALLY the movie starts in all of its 6 hour glory. We had to stop in the middle only to resume a few hours later. Guess who was treated to another wait? US!

Dear old DVD would never have done that to us. Beautiful VHS would roll right into the movie.

Dear BluRay,

You disappoint me.

Love,

Pete

P.S. Sure you look good, but if you make me wait for something stupid you aren’t worth it.

Daniel Day Lewis looks awesome in a hat. I believe I can comfortably say that. Specifically a wide-brimmed hat. Here are some examples:

Bill “The Butcher” from Gangs of New York. Why don’t you have a top hat on your head?

Lewis as Abraham Lincoln. I’m a bit stoked for this up coming movie.Yet another top hat.

Daniel Day Lewis in There Will be Blood does not wear a top had, but I figured this was close enough.

Why top hats? Why do they look so awesome? Why don’t people wear top hats in everyday life? I saw a guy driving a beat up old pickup today. Nothing real extraordinary about that… other than the fact he looked like a bad ass in a top hat. Yes, Saturday morning February the 18th, 2012 a bad ass in a top hat drove his pickup down 459.

I decided to do a poor Photoshop to approximate what I saw.

Daniel Day Lewis doesn’t disappoint. Dude in a truck with a top hat doesn’t disappoint. Top hats in general don’t disappoint.

Not seeing enough top hats disappoints me.

Went Orienteering today. I stepped up to a green level course. They don’t lie the difficulty level really jumps between green and orange.

Yep, rocking the thumb compass.

Here’s my route taken from GPS.

Can you tell where I got lost? I killed 53 gaggin’ minutes on that control. Follow one wrong stream bed, and look what happens. Also check the weird loop I did around the start of the 3rd mile. I was less than 20 yards from the control. Shoot me now. I lost 15 minutes there. Around the 2 mile mark, I think I hyper extended my knee. It doesn’t feel too hot. Here’s me starting my RICE.

Just in case anyone hasn’t played sports and never got hurt RICE is Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. Do that the first 24 hours and then start to introduce hot and cold compresses. I don’t think it is bad. I pulled off 2.5ish more miles on the knee, but I was much slower. I hope this doesn’t mess up the March 10th race. Mom and I are suppose to go to Tuscaloosa Monday to bike part of the course. Hopefully I can.

Tomorrow is the third Saturday of the month. That means that I’ll be orienteering if possible. Fun thing about tomorrow are the projected storms. We have HEAVY rains forecasted for our area tomorrow. Warmer than usual temps and heavy rain. I plan on getting there early tomorrow to hopefully beat the majority of the rain. Not that I want to avoid the rain, but I want to perform well. It is difficult to perform in the “slop.” I do want a little rain, but not a torrential down pour. I also don’t want a cancel due to weather.

I’ve got a new compass I’m dying to use. It’s a Moscow Thumb Compass. Look for them on eBay if you want to save on shipping and get one a little cheaper.

I also have my new gaiters that Amberly got me for Christmas. I’ve used them, but not for orienteering.

I just want to go run in the woods and get a little wet. I don’t want it to rain out. Not that this is a disappointment, but just a hope that I’m not disappointed tomorrow.

If you are in town come on out. Look for this sign:

I’ll be running around in the woods looking for these:

Look at the Vulcan Orienteering Club web page. There are meets every 3rd Saturday from September to May. Come on out and run with me!

UPDATE: Just found out the start time has been moved up to 9am. Yep, gonna start even earlier.
