Disappointment a Day: 24
Star Wars. *Sigh* I could do the whole year on your volumes of cannon. Disappointment abounds. Today, however, I don’t really know who is responsible. Let’s just say everybody.
I was introducing Lyla to Star Wars.
Lyla watching.
Episode 4 if anyone must know. I don’t want her to learn about the abomination that is Phantom Menace as long as possible. During the trash compactor scene a tentacled monster grabs Luke and pulls him under the sludge. The thought hit me, what’s that monster called?
The Star Wars Universe is VAST and the information gathered on individual characters that have only SECONDS of screen time is impressive. This fact is sad. It is also sad that I know this and quickly went to wookieepedia, yes I said wookieepedia, for an answer. It is a Dianoga, a large cephalopod. Here’s a photo for your viewing enjoyment:
There are whole novels devoted to characters with much smaller screen time.

IG-88B only stands on the deck of a Star Destroyer for 2 or 3 seconds of screen time.

That’s it. Darth Vader walks across and the scene cuts as he gets to Boba Fett for a close up.
I read IG-88′s book as a teenager. I guess I could say my disappointment is the failure of what Star Wars could have been, but that would be too easy. I’m just disappointed that Boba Fett took IG-88 so easily. Sad that I know that.
Disappointment = Bounty Hunter poor planning.
